Our client, based in South London, is building a brand-new Machine Learning enabled AWS platform that will ingest data from across multiple business areas. The aim of the new platform is to bring customer data together, so our client can use data science techniques to improve customer experience, products and feedback.
To build this platform it is looking to take on two business facing Data Engineering Managers. I’m looking for people who know AWS throughout and can gather requirements from demanding stakeholders across the business, translate these requirements to data engineers so they can build out data pipelines. There is little to no existing AWS experience within the business, so you will be expected to lead the development, build the roadmaps and design the data solutions for the platform. This is the development of Data as a Service and this role is key.
There will be a team underneath you consisting of Data & Software Engineers. You will help recruit this team and be responsible for line management.
This is a business facing role and while we will need you to have strong stakeholder management.
Moving all the customer data onto this new platform will involve ETL and data pipeline building and experience working on migration projects is essential. Predominantly the pipelines will be built using Python, that said, Java will also be used. Ideally, I’m looking for someone with Python or Java programming expertise.
As mentioned, this is an ML enabled platform so working in such an environment is needed. Further down the road production of ML code will be necessary so if you have experience in this area it would be an advantage.
So in summary, AWS wizard, strong business facing/stakeholder management, requirements gathering, Python or Java.
The role comes with great benefits, a flexible salary of around 70-90k & a 20% bonus.
